Should We Investigate The Bankruptcy Option?

This situation concerns my parents in the UK. They owe about 20,000 GBP. They do not own a home but stay on a property owned by their employer. They are over 60and both have quite major health problems. They work for a low income and service their debts by just paying the interest. The concern is that they are coming to the point where one or other may no longer be able to work and will be in a real fix.

Yourquestion:   Would it be advisable for my parents to investigate the bankruptcy option? What are the pros and cons?
Taking into account the background information above.

What Is Bankruptcy Fraud?

I am considering going bankrupt but dont want to lose a property I have so I am going to sell it to my friend for a less then what it is worth  can I get in trouble for this?

I'm considering bankruptcy because I am struggling to pay back credit card debts.

My bills go to my parents' house but I don't live there as such. I spend most of my time at my girlfriend's rented house in another part of the country to my parents' house.

Their question: All my credit card bills go to my parents' address. I currently live most of the time with my girlfriend but it's not official. She's concerned that me going bankrupt will put my name in the local paper and embarrass her. Could I declare bankruptcy and say I'm of no fixed abode and therefore could i declare bankruptcy at any court in the country?

My second question is:

As I said, my credit card bills currently go to my parents' address, but I rarely live there. If I was to declare myself bankrupt from that address and to a court local to them, would their credit rating be affected? My brother also lives there, and my other brother gets his card bills sent there too - will it affect their credit ratings? If I was to declare it from my girlfriend's house (in another part of the country), would it affect her credit ratings too?

Thanks
