How long does it take to clear your name from bankruptcy?
You're bankrupt for 12 months before being discharged. However, many people are discharged before this.
The bankruptcy record will stay on your credit file for 6 years before automatically falling off. However, even if it's 10 years down the line and the bankruptcy is not recorded on your credit reference file anymore, you do have to declare it if you're asked by a future creditor.
Failure to do so is classed as fraudulent.
