I own a house but I am about to move to rented accommodation because I am about to go bankrupt. Should I do this and will it be viewed negatively by the court?
There is no reason why you can’t sell the house however it would be advisable to keep all of the funds received from the sale of the house for the trustee when you file. Do not pay any debts from those funds as that will create large problems with your bankruptcy. By paying some creditors from the funds you would be showing creditors preference and those payments could be reversed by the court.
