In Bankruptcy Will Bailiffs Be Sent Out?

I was made redundant in Aug 2009, had to sell my house and most of my possesions including car and I now live with my mother. I have finally managed to get a part time job 16hours a week (£130 a week). i'm never going to be able to pay my debts off so have decided to go bankrupt.

Yourquestion:   Will the OR send round bailiffs to take what little posessions I now have (few electrical items and bed) and will they take any of what I earn towards servicing the debts.

Answer: In bankruptcy no bailiffs are sent out and your personal possessions are not taken.  The only things/assets the OR may be interested in is things like property, cars, expensive jewelery, antiques, etc.

 

You will only be required to pay into a bankruptcy if after your allowed living expenses you have a surplus that exceeds £20.

 

From what you have stated, I doubt you have any surplus of income.
