Can I Keep Both My Cars In Bankruptcy?

Question:

I am filling for bankruptcy, I own 2 cars one I need for work, the other my wife needs to help look after my mum she goes over once or twice a day and also takes her shopping, 1 car is worth £600-700, the other £150. Can or will thay take one off me if so which one.

Answer:

In bankruptcy you are allowed a car if you can show a need for it and it is of modest value, you seem to meet both those requirements.

As for allowing two cars in your name I cannot say, both are of low value and you maybe allowed if you can show you really do need both.

It will be the Official Receiver’s decision here and I cannot second guess them.
